Armie Hammer really wants you to know peaches are part of his ‘everyday life’ after that Call Me By Your Name scene
Armie Hammer, Call Me By Your Name star and professor of thirstology, continues to bait his horny gay fans and we, sadly, keep falling for it.
The 6′ 5″ actor was discussing the forthcoming Call Me By Your Name 2 with GQ, when he was asked once again to clarify why he sent Timothée Chamalet the internationally recognised code for “let’s hook up” – a string, of aubergine, “sweat”, heart and fire emojis.
“This is what happens when you Instagram when slightly tipsy,” he admitted.
“Things just seem like a really good idea.”
Hammer insisted he was being “facetious” not horny, and definitely wasn’t giving a “clandestine, cloak and dagger” hint at Call Me By Your Name 2. And if that’s what he wants us to believe then we of course will.
So aubergines won’t be making an appearance in the highly-anticipated sequel, but how about peaches?
“Oh yeah,” Hammer told GQ. “Peaches are now a part of my every day of my life.”

Call Me By Your Name peach scene explained.
In case you spent 2017 in a nuclear bunker, Armie Hammer was referring to a pivotal scene in Call Me By Your Name, in which Timothée Chamalet’s character Elio masturbates into a peach the night after he has sex with Hammer’s Oliver for the first time.
Later Oliver finds Elio, and the peach. As he goes to take a bite of it, Elio begins to cry and the two embrace.
Author Andre Aciman explained the significance of the scene back in 2018, saying: “The peach scene is very essential, partly because it’s so shocking, but also at the same time because it is the most intimate moment between the two men.
“In the book, Oliver eats the peach, and he says: ‘I want every part of you. If you are going to die, I want part of you to stay with me, in my system, and that’s the way I’m going to do it.’ So it is a very powerful moment.
“In the film, he just puts his finger in and almost licks it, and that is good enough for cinema, we don’t need to see more.”
However recently, Hammer revealed that alternative takes exist in which Oliver actually bites into the peach.
“Because it had to be done in one shot, the one that ended up working the best for everything was one where I didn’t actually take a bite of the peach. But there are plenty of takes where I did,” he told Pride Source’s Chris Azzopardi.
Peaches aside, Armie Hammer also opened up to GQ about his friendship with Chamalet.
“One of the great things about this business is you get to go to different places and meet different people and interact with people all the time,” he explained.
“And now and then you meet someone or interact with someone and go: ‘Hey, you’re not just a work friend. You’re a real friend,’ and I like that.”
