Kathy Griffin posts Donald Trump’s severed head after he falsely declares he’s won the election
Kathy Griffin retweeted the controversial photo of her holding Donald Trump’s severed head which almost ended her career, following the Republican’s false claim of victory in the US election.
Griffin shared the infamous photo on Twitter just minutes after Trump falsely claimed that he had won the election and vowed to ask the Supreme Court to stop vote-counting amid baseless claims of fraud. States will continue to count all ballots legally cast, and there are no grounds on which the Court could prevent this.
With tensions surrounding an extraordinarily divisive campaign remaining high and Biden and Trump still locked in a tight race for the presidency, Griffin’s posting of the image drew mixed reactions from followers.
Some users even tagged the US Secret Service, Twitter Safety and the Department of Justice.

The provocative comedian weathered intense criticism in 2017 over the image, which shows her clutching Trump’s disembodied head covered in red ketchup.
She was fired from CNN over the stunt, and said that the ensuing backlash battered her mental health.
In response to the image, Trump tweeted at the time: “Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11-year-old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!”
Griffin apologised and later claimed she was investigated by the FBI over the photo, taken by Tyler Shields.
She later retracted her apology, and unbowed, has continued to sound off against Trump, even as she experienced coronavirus-like symptoms earlier this year.
Kathy Griffin has long used spiky humour to criticise Donald Trump.
Far from one to back down in the face of criticism, Kathy Griffin has continued to make provocative statements about Donald Trump since being “cancelled” over the bloody head photo.
Earlier this year she tweeted at the president after he asked whether he should be using insulin while rolling out plans to slash prices for diabetic seniors.
“Syringe with nothing but air inside it would do the trick,” he hit back.
“F*** TRUMP.”
As detractors spilled into her mentions, Griffins, unscathed, doubled down on her stance. She reshared an article in the Washington Examiner, that reported: “Kathy Griffin advocates for someone to stab Donald Trump.”
“I sure did, f***er,” she hit back, “#TrumpLiedPeopleDied.”
