Hungarian MP ridicules Viktor Orbàn ally arrested at gay sex party – and he brought props
Drainpipes are a new cultural obsession in Hungary thanks to the hypocritical anti-gay politician József Szájer.
Szájer, an ally of the country’s far-right prime minister Viktor Orban, was responsible for slipping an article into Hungary’s constitution defining “the institution of marriage as between a man and a woman” as “the basis of the family and national survival”.
The MEP resigned in disgrace last week after he was arrested at a 25-person gay sex party in Brussels, having reportedly attempted to climb down a drainpipe to evade police investigating the breach of coronavirus restrictions.
Drainpipes have since become an instant meme among Hungarians, with a makeshift plaque unveiled by pranksters on the pipe at the site of the fateful Brussels party.
Hungarians living in Brussels installed this plaque on the gutter which MEP József Szájer tried to use while fleeing authorities “after attending
an illegal ecstasy fuelled orgy”, @telexhu reports. The plaque quickly became popular among locals.https://t.co/mj4zI8cMuH pic.twitter.com/6PBg7oZ9QJ

It says: “The political career of Jozsef Szajer, MEP of Fidesz and the EPP, ended here when he tried to flee the authorities using this drainpipe after attending an illegal ecstasy fuelled orgy amid the COVID-19 pandemic on Friday 27 November, 2020.”
Drainpipe waved in Hungarian parliament as MPs ridicule József Szájer.
One Hungarian opposition MP took the joke a step further, brandishing a drainpipe in the country’s parliament as he tore into the ruling party.
Zoltán Varga of the Democratic Coalition brandished the prop on Monday (7 December) as he said: “For ten years, government parties have been destroying and scattering the country on the grounds of Christian morality and conservative values.
“They steal, cheat, lie, and spend the stolen money on drugs, whores, orgies, luxury yachts, and some crazy luxury.
“You say ‘Family first’ – nice slogan. But you forget to mention that when the family is not there, you’re participating in orgies or visiting prostitutes.”
He added: “God, country, family, right? Don’t mess around. You’re the government of public money, cocaine and hookers. That’s your reality.”
Wielding the pipe, per Euronews, he told the governing party: “Look in the mirror… and if you are horrified at what you see and want to escape, I’ve brought you something familiar.”
Mural tears into anti-LGBT+ hypocrisy in Hungarian ruling party.
Over the weekend, a mural satirically announcing “new Hungarian gay icon” József Szájer was unveiled in Italy.
The Rome street artist Laika unveiled the tongue-in-cheek mural, which shows the former MEP in a leather harness in front of the Fidesz party logo.
“In Hungary, the Orbàn government literally declared war on the LGBT + community, depriving it of all rights in the name of so-called traditional values and Christian roots,” the artist said.
“I want a world where everyone has the same rights, regardless of identity and sexual orientation, a society without prejudice. Straight, gay, lesbian, trans, bisexual, queer, etc… All human beings, all with the same rights.
“I want a world where even Szájer can be free to live his sexuality the way he believes, without hiding from the eyes of his own party.”
