Chris Pratt breaks silence on ‘worst Chris’ title after being criticised for links to allegedly anti-LGBT+ church

It looks like “the battle of the Chrises” has finally drawn to a close as Chris Pratt conceded defeat on the fields of his superhero fantasy football league.
Pratt’s ties to an allegedly anti-LGBT+ megachurch earned him the title of the “worst Chris” in cinema earlier this year, losing out to fellow actors Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pine.
Pratt had previously defended his church’s ill-famed reputation, saying that claims of homophobia could not be “further from the truth”, but remained silent amid the latest Twitter storm, leaving his wife as well his Marvel co-stars to defend him.
Now, in the wake of Marvel Comics’ revelation that Pratt’s Guardians of the Galaxy character Star-Lord is a polyamorous bisexual, the star has addressed his unwanted title.
Speaking in an Instagram story on Tuesday (22 December), Pratt joked that while Evans and Hemsworth are indeed the better Chrises, he at least has a chance of beating them in their fantasy football team, the AGBO Superhero League.
“I made it into the finals! I’m in the finals! How did this happen? It’s a 14-man league. I had 14th draft pick. You know how hard that is?” he said.
“I was last. It was very traumatic. Anyone who’s been picked last knows how that feels. But somehow I was in, like, 10th place after the draft, and like eighth place after the season.
“I snuck two very, very close victories off, the most recent against Chris Evans. He had beat Chris Hemsworth last week, so I guess we can finally put an end to that debate. Who’s the better Chris?” he quipped, before adding, “It’s one of them. I do have them in body fat content, though. So, I am more buoyant. Take that, gang.”

Chris Pratt’s Guardians of the Galaxy character Star-Lord (Peter Quill) had always been presented as something of a ladies’ man, both in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and in the comics, but it turns out we were only scratching the surface.
Guardians of the Galaxy #9, “I Shall Make You a Star-Lord” found everyone’s favourite human/Spartoi hybrid in a polyamorous relationship with two blue-skinned humanoids, Aradia and More.
When the two first offered themselves to Quill to experience their “togetherness” he was initially opposed to the idea, as he still had hope of returning home to his love Gamora. Fast-forward 12 years and Star-Lord had finally opened up to the couple, who shared in his nomadic lifestyle.
Their love triangle was confirmed with a frame showing the trio bathing together in a ceremonial temple, the intimate scene soaked in bisexual lighting.
The graphic novels generally tend to make bolder moves than the media, so it’s not clear if Quill’s bisexuality will be explored further in future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects – but we certainly hope so.
