Lady Gaga explains why she doesn’t want Donald Trump removed by 25th Amendment

Lady Gaga thinks Donald Trump should not be removed by the 25th Amendment for one very good reason.
The star, who has been a vocal critic of Trump’s throughout his presidency and famously got into a spat with him in the run-up to the election, explained her reasons for opposing efforts to remove Trump through the 25th Amendment.
“The 25th Amendment doesn’t disqualify him,” she tweeted Friday (8 January).
Instead, Gaga would rather the focus be put on impeaching Trump a second time, so that Congress “has the constitutional authority to possibly disqualify him from future election”.
“He incited domestic terror — how much more violence needs to happen?” she added. “This is terrorism.”

Trump is scheduled to leave office on 20 January, however after he incited a violent mob to breach the Capitol on Wednesday (6 January), resulting in the deaths of five people, many believe it is not safe to allow him to continue on another day.
It has previously been suggested Trump could run for a second term in the 2024 election, however the idea that Congress could ban him from holding public office after he incited a violent mob to march on Congress is now being floated.
For now, leading Democrats including Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are calling for Mike Pence and the Trump cabinet to invoke section four of the 25th Amendment – which has never before been used – that allows them to declare the president unfit for office.
Pence and a majority of cabinet would need to sign a letter to the speakers of both the House and the Senate to this effect, at which point Pence would assume the powers of president.
Trump would be allowed to contest the finding, which would trigger a vote in Congress. A two-thirds majority would be required to then remove the president, with the vice president acting in his place until such time.
Pelosi and other lawmakers have said that if Pence does not move imminently, she will not hesitate to move forward with a second impeachment.
Trump is “a very dangerous person who should not continue in office”, Pelosi said.
“This is urgent. This is an emergency of the highest magnitude.”
No US president has ever been impeached twice.
On Thursday, congresswoman Ilhan Omar published articles of impeachment for introduction, co-signed by 11 other Democrats including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ayanna Pressley and Mondaire Jones.
