Drag Race UK fans left fuming after questionable elimination: ‘Absolutely robbed’

Drag Race UK returned for season two with a bang, lots of balls, and some controversy over one Joe Black. Warning, spoilers follow.

After 420 long, bitter, Drag Race UK-free days, the BBC put 50p in RuPaul and fired her back up into motion.

She welcomed 12 new queens to the werk room – Lawrence Chaney, Tayce, Joe Black, A’Whora, Tia Kofi, Ellie Diamond, Sister Sister, Veronica Green, Bimini Bon Boulash, Ginny Lemon and Asttina Mandella – wasting no time in setting them a ridiculous “Wimbled’hun” photoshoot challenge and a double UK gay icon/hometown glory runway.

So far, so good. Fans were immediately taken by the new intake, with the new season giving Britain the serotonin boost it so desperately needed.

But when the queens took to the runway, for some viewers, was when the wheels started to come off.

After declaring Asstina the week’s winner for her Naomi Campbell and south London looks, Joe Black was put on the spot.

Apparently, her David Bowie-inspired look and her Brighton Pavilion eleganza didn’t quite translate in the room – but at home, fans didn’t know what the judges were talking about.

Including a Drag Race UK alum…

… and one very special British gay icon.

Many were also confused that Tayce’s incredible Welsh dragon-cum-Maleficent look was deemed safe.

East London queen Bimini joined Joe in the bottom, with the two giving easily the best lip sync Drag Race UK has seen to date.

Sadly, one queen had to sashay away from the competition.

But in the end, it was Joe Black who had the last laugh.
