Donald Trump is ‘furious’ Lady Gaga and so many other celebrities are performing at Joe Biden’s inauguration

Donald Trump is reportedly “furious” that Lady Gaga and other high-profile celebrities are performing at Joe Biden’s inauguration.
Biden will be inaugurated on Wednesday (20 January), finally taking the reins from Trump – much to the relief of millions of Americans.
But the outgoing president is reportedly not impressed at the huge number of A-listers that have signed up to perform or take part in Biden’s inauguration – particularly because so many refused point blank to have anything to do with his presidential ceremonies in 2017, a source close to Trump told the Washington Post.
Trump was once popular among high-profile celebrities – Elton John and Billy Joel performed at his 2005 wedding to Melania Trump – but that changed following the divisive rhetoric of his 2016 presidential election.
After courting homophobia and racism throughout his campaign, Trump is now firmly in the bad books of most high-profile actors and singers – and it showed in the performers who took part in his inauguration, which included 3 Doors Down, DJ Ravidrums, The Piano Guys and several others.
By comparison, Biden’s inauguration will see Lady Gaga will perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” at an outdoor swearing-in ceremony, which will take place at the West Front of the US Capitol in Washington DC.
Gaga will be joined on the deck by Jennifer Lopez, with firefighter Andrea Hall leading the Pledge of Allegiance and the first person to be named National Youth Poet Laureate, Amanda Gorman, reciting a poem.
Joe Biden’s inauguration celebration draws even more A-listers.
After Biden’s inauguration – which is going ahead in a reduced capacity due to the COVID-19 pandemic – Tom Hanks will host a 90-minute television programme broadcast on all major networks.
Biden and vice-president elect Kamala Harris will appear in the programme with Ant Clemons, Jon Bon Jovi, the Foo Fighters, John Legend, Eva Longoria, Demi Lovato, Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake and Kerry Washington.
While the events will be curtailed by the coronavirus pandemic, it certainly looks as though they will still make a bigger impact than Trump’s inauguration.
The news comes as Trump limps towards the end of his disastrous presidency, which descended to shocking lows in the final weeks of his term after he encouraged a mob of extremists and white supremacists to descend upon the Capitol in Washington DC, with the resulting deadly insurrection sending shockwaves through the world and prompting the House of Representatives to impeach Trump a second time.
Trump was banned from various social media platforms, including Twitter, in the aftermath of the Capitol riots, meaning the president has had fewer opportunities to push his hateful rhetoric in the final weeks of his term.
