Elliot Page ‘files for divorce’ from wife Emma Portner
Elliot Page has reportedly filed for divorce from his wife Emma Portner, ending a three-year-long marriage.
Page, 33, is understood to have filed legal documents with a court in Manhattan, New York, to dissolve his union with professional dancer and Broadway Dance Center teacher Portner, 26, according to TMZ.
Entertainment Tonight also reported obtaining court records confirming Page had filed for divorce from his wife.
The couple married in 2018, with Portner becoming one of Page’s most vocal supporters after he came out as trans last December with a defiant message of love and hope, as well as confirming his pronouns.
“I feel lucky to be writing this,” he reflected. “To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life.
“I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self.
“I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place.”
Emma Portner: ‘I am so proud of Elliot Page’
But Emma Porter appeared to have deleted her Instagram shortly after she sparred with transphobic trolls who sought to challenge their relationship.
“I am so proud of Elliot Page,” she wrote in a post at the time. “Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world.
“I also ask for patience and privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day.
“Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much.”
After an Instagram user questioned their relationship, she hit back: “I hope you know my sexual preferences and gender identity are none of your business.
“For me to decide, thank you. Release your labels of me. I am as fluid as can be.”
Page has similarly been offline since, with his last social media post being shared on their Instagram. The Juno and Umbrella Academy star thanked fans for their support since coming out.
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you,” the Oscar-nominared actor wrote to his 4.5 million followers.
“Your love and support has been the greatest gift. Stay safe. Be there for each other.”
