JoJo Siwa expertly shuts down homophobic mother with just one simple word

JoJo Siwa

YouTube sensation JoJo Siwa had the most on-brand response for a homophobic mother who contacted her on social media.

The 17-year-old Dance Moms star and hit children’s entertainer came out on Friday (22 January), prompting an outpouring of support from her many young followers.

“I have never ever been this happy before, and it feels really awesome,” Siwa said in a grinning Instagram video days later. “I’ve been happy for a little bit now, and it’s just so, so, so awesome.”

But not everyone had a kind word to say. Commenting beneath the video, one angry mother had nothing but bitterness for the star.

“My daughter will never watch you again,” user @_keemaria wrote in a comment liked by more than 5,500 people. But Siwa had just one word for them.

“Okay!” she replied simply.

Her cheery rebuttal was immediately liked by over 50,000 supporters, who flooded the post with more than enough love to drown out the homophobe.

“This video was so mature and such a beautiful video about self discovery. I’m showing my daughter tomorrow,” wrote one mother.

Kim Kardashian, Jonathan Van Ness, Tess Holliday and Trixie Mattel also joined in with messages of support.

“Girl!!!!!!!! You know I adore you,” said actress Kerry Washington. “Your commitment to being authentically unapologetically and beautifully YOU is a gift to the world!”

JoJo Siwa has remained upbeat amid all the scrutiny thrown her way, even after her home was “swatted” by 50 police officers following an alleged call from the press.

Video footage of a smiling, rain-soaked Siwa chatting to officers outside her Los Angeles house went viral just hours after she came out as LGBT+.

“Basically, there’s this thing called swatting,” the star later explained. “We’re at our house, and all of a sudden, there was a whole bunch of police telling us to come outside the house.

“We went outside, hands up, because you have to obviously follow the rules, and then the police were saying that somebody had called and made a claim.

“And then, all of a sudden, paparazzi came from around the corner.”

The teenager wasn’t the least bit phased by the invasion though, and simply chided the photographers for bothering the police. “You could’ve just hung outside my house and I would’ve eventually come outside,” she said.
