Gina Carano’s Mandalorian action figure ‘axed’ by Hasbro amid social media controversy

A Hasbro toy of Gina Carano’s Mandalorian character Cara Dune has reportedly been scrapped in the wake of the actor’s firing from Disney.
Carano, who played Cara Dune on the hit Disney Plus show The Mandalorian, was fired after what Disney’s Lucasfilm described as “abhorrent and unacceptable” social media posts dubbed antisemitic and anti-trans by some.
A Lucasfilm spokesperson said Carano is “not currently employed by Lucasfilm, and there are no plans for her to be in the future”.
Now apparently, toymaker Hasbro is also distancing itself from Carano. KC Walsh, editor-in-chief of Geek Worldwide, took to Twitter to share an image from Big Bad Toy Store. In the post, the toy store said pre-orders for the Cara Dune action figure had been cancelled.

Walsh captioned the post, which detailed the correspondence on the pre-order, with: “Hasbro says bye-bye Carano.”
The figures are labelled as “sold out” on Hasbro’s official website, while the retro collection Cara Dune figure is on pre-order and available to ship in July.
Hasbro has been contacted for comment.
Gina Carano fired after Holocaust tweet.
Hasbro would be the latest in a series of businesses seeking to distance themselves from Gina Carano after she shared a post that appeared to compare being a Republican to being Jewish during the Holocaust.
The now-deleted post, shared on her Instagram story, read: “Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbours…even by children.
“Because history is edited, most people today don’t realise that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbours hate them simply for being Jews.
“How is that any different from hating someone for their political views.”
Lucasfilm condemned her words, its statement continuing: “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
She was later fired and ditched by her agency also as a result.
In September last year, Carano was accused of transphobia when she added “boop/bop/beep” to her Twitter profile, after fans asked if she would display her pronouns as an act of trans solidarity. She denied this, saying the move had “nothing to do with mocking trans people.”
Now, Carano is apparently attempting to bounce back from the media backlash and Twitter storm by working with right-wing commentator Ben Shapiro. On Friday (12 February), Carano said that after being fired from The Mandalorian she is now set to collaborate with the conservative website The Daily Wire in an open challenge against what Shapiro called the “Hollywood left”.
“The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true,” Carano said in a statement to the outlet.
The film will be released exclusively on The Daily Wire as part of its collaboration with Bone Tomahawk producer Dallas Sonnier.
