Michelle Visage joins pop legends Steps as ‘unofficial sixth member’ for boptastic musical comeback
Steps and Michelle Visage have announced a surprise new single, “Heartbreak in This City”.
Only a few months after the release of Steps’ latest album What the Future Holds, the thriving pop group surprised fans by announcing a fresh cut of an album track featuring the Drag Race icon.
The special remix of “Heartbreak in This City” featuring Visage will serve as the fourth single from the album.
There’s not long to wait, with the track set for release right after its first airing on Radio 2’s breakfast show next Thursday (25 February) – which, as luck would have it, is being guest-hosted by none other than Drag Race UK regular Alan Carr.
Just one small step closer to Drag Race world domination.
‘Unofficial sixth member’ Michelle Visage joins Steps for new single ‘Heartbreak in This City’.
Michelle Visage said: “To say that I’m honoured to record a song with pop icons Steps is the understatement of the year. With the state of the world today, we all need music that makes us feel good and trust me when I tell you, “Heartbreak In this City” is an absolute BOP!
“After years of dreaming about it, for at least a moment in time, I can officially be “Michelle from Steps”! CAN SOMEONE PINCH ME PLEASE?
“I hope everyone loves listening to it as much as I loved recording it!”

Lisa Scott-Lee has dubbed Michelle Visage Steps’ “unofficial sixth member” after the collaboration which came about after the band took part in an Instagram Live with her a few months ago.
H said: “I love ‘Heartbreak in This City’ and we thought Michelle would be perfect to take it to the next level. I am the world’s #1 Drag Race superfan and beside myself she’s joined us on the song!”
Steps star bonded with Michelle Visage over shared experiences.
Faye Tozer, who like Visage appeared on reality show Strictly Come Dancing, noted how the pair have a few things in common.
She said: “Not only did Michelle and I have the same dance partner Giovanni Pernice on Strictly Come Dancing, but we both played the role of Miss Hedge in the West End production of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
“We’ve since become good friends and constantly chat all things Strictly and Drag Race by WhatsApp.”
Claire Richards added: “On top of being a brilliant Drag Race judge, people might not realise that Michelle is an incredible singer who was first part of the girl group Seduction and had a huge hit with The S.O.U.L. S.Y.S.T.E.M. on the Bodyguard soundtrack, one of the greatest selling albums of all time.”
