The mind-blowing Mortal Kombat movie trailer is finally here – and you’re going to want to see it
The Mortal Kombat movie trailer is finally here and it looks incredible.
The highly-anticipated movie adaption of legendary fighting game Mortal Kombat will be hitting the big and small screens this April.
Ahead of its release in cinemas and on HBO Max, a trailer for the movie has been released by Warner Bros – and fans across the globe couldn’t be more satisfied.
Staying true to the franchise, the film features all the game’s most iconic characters: Mileena, Kano, Sonya Blade, Liu Kang, Raiden and more.
The 2021 Mortal Kombat movie stars Jessica McNamee and Mehcad Brooks. It marks the fourth time the game has been adapted, the first making its debut back in 1995 starring Christopher Lambert.
In the film, MMA fighter Cole Young, accustomed to taking a beating for money, is unaware of his heritage — or why Outworld’s Emperor Shang Tsung has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt him down.
Fearing for his family’s safety, Cole goes in search of Sonya Blade at the direction of Jax, a Special Forces Major who bears the same strange dragon marking Cole was born with. Soon, he finds himself at the temple of Lord Raiden, an Elder God and the protector of Earthrealm, who grants sanctuary to those who bear the mark.
Here, Cole trains with experienced warriors Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and rogue mercenary Kano, as he prepares to stand with Earth’s greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a high-stakes battle for the universe.
But will Cole be pushed hard enough to unlock his arcana — the immense power from within his soul — in time to save not only his family but to stop Outworld once and for all?
Just last week, the developers of the game hosted a Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Match live stream with WAP rapper Megan Thee Stallion live on Twitch and YouTube.
Mortal Kombat will be released in US theatres on 16 April as well as streaming on HBO Max.
A UK release date is yet to be confirmed. You can buy the latest version of the game Mortal Kombat 11 for your console of choice at game.co.uk.
