Jimmy Kimmel tears into transphobic ‘congress Karen’ Marjorie Taylor Greene: ‘Worst human of 2021’
Jimmy Kimmel has declared Marjorie Taylor Greene as the “frontrunner for worst human of 2021”.
This week, Marie Newman, a Democrat congresswoman and mother of a trans teenager whose office neighbours Greene’s, decided to hang a trans Pride flag in their shared hall “so she can look at it every time she opens her door”.
In response, just hours later, Greene put up a sign in the hall that reads: “There are TWO genders. MALE & FEMALE. Trust the science!”
Greene, an anti-trans QAnon conspiracy theorist, had been working to block the the Equality Act, which substantially expands the existing 1964 Civil Rights Act to include specific protections for sexual orientation and gender identity, although thankfully the House of Representative voted Thursday (25 February) to pass it.
During his monologue on that evening’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel said: “Because [Greene’s anti-trans sign] wasn’t enough scumbaggery for one day, QAnon Marge had the audacity to say this on the floor of the House.”
Kimmel played a clip of Greene speaking in the House of Representatives, wearing a mask embroidered with the words: “This mask is as useless as Joe Biden.”
We’ve got a Karen in Congress now.
Greene said: “I’d like to point out to my Democrat colleagues that there is no Republican member of Congress that condones the attack on the Capitol on 6 January.
“I was also a victim in this chamber when it happened, and we are very offended at your constant attacks on us for claiming we had anything to do with it. That needs to stop.”
“Oh my God,” Kimmel groaned in response. “We’ve got a Karen in Congress now. She’s so awful. Just terrible.”
He described Greene’s comments as “interesting”, because “yesterday we learned one of her closest friends and allies, a guy named Anthony Aguero, was in the Capitol during the attack”.
He added: “Not only that, one of her other close friends is the guy who actually planned and inciting the riot at the Capitol. This guy.” Kimmel displayed a photo of Greene and Donald Trump.
Greene, who currently spearheading a vile anti-trans act that would ban trans women from competing in sports and this month said she wants to ban US embassies around the world from flying Pride flags, previously endorsed numerous Facebook posts calling for deadly violence against Democrats and federal enforcement officers.
A CNN investigation showed that before Greene took office she had liked several posts about executing Democrats, including one that called for a “bullet to the head” of Nancy Pelosi.
In another post from April 2018, she personally assured commenters that the “stage is being set” for the hanging of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Greene is also notorious for her belief in the QAnon conspiracy theory. The bizarre beliefs of QAnon followers include that liberal celebrities and Democratic officials have been secretly arrested over a large-scale conspiracy to steal children for ritual Satanic abuse.
