Get ready to bend and snap up the new Legally Blonde video game. What, like it’s hard?

Legally Blonde

It’s finally time to live your Elle Woods fantasy as a Legally Blonde video game is on its way.

Developed by Australia’s Playside Studios and MGM, the game will follow the story of the 2001 original Legally Blonde film and its 2003 sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde.

That’s right, Legally Blonde is more than 20 years old.

The original film tells the story of Elle Woods: sorority girl turned Harvard law student who loves pink, cute tiny dogs and breaking down the patriarchy. The sequel sees her facing up against a villainous make-up manufacturer who tests their products on animals.

The free-to-play mobile game, coming to iOS and Android, will feature narrative elements and Match 3 gameplay based on both films – though no footage has been released so far. Perhaps now we’ll find out if happy people really do shoot their husbands?

It’s perfect timing for the game, with a Legally Blonde 3 film on the way in 2022. It will once again star Reece Witherspoon in her most iconic role, with a new script from Mindy Kaling.

Between the game and the forthcoming film, it’s proof that Legally Blonde still has cultural relevance to this day. Playside Studios are particularly excited about this… package.

“We have a good relationship with MGM and we loved the franchise,” says TJ Munusamy, the vice president of development at PlaySide. “It’s about women’s empowerment. She’s smart, savvy, and has a sophisticated side. It’s one of those films that’s a classic. And mobile free-to-play has been our bread and butter.”

Playside Studios – experts in mobile games – have published 52 titles, including numerous film tie-ins, though Legally Blonde will be their first film-based game developed internally.

You’ll be able to bend and snap up the game when it debuts later this year to try your hand at law school while looking super cute. What, like it’s hard?
