Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding told she probably won’t live to see Christmas as cancer spreads to her spine

Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding has shared the tragic news that Christmas 2020 was “probably her last” after her cancer spread to her spine.

The singer, 39, revealed in August that she is battling advanced breast cancer and had undergone a mastectomy and intensive chemotherapy.

She spoke candidly about her prognosis in her new memoir, Hear Me Out, where she admitted her battle is coming to an end after developing a secondary tumour at the base of her spine.

“In December my doctor told me that the upcoming Christmas would probably be my last,” Sarah Harding wrote in an extract published in The Times.

“I don’t want an exact prognosis. I don’t know why anyone would want that. Comfort and being as pain-free as possible is what’s important to me now.”

Describing her long struggle in hospital, Harding revealed that she almost died when she contracted sepsis before her chemotherapy treatment.

To save her life doctors had to put her into an induced coma and placed her on a ventilator.

“Even once I was off the ventilator, I couldn’t speak properly,” she said. “All I could do was make noises that sounded like a chimpanzee trying to communicate.”

Now that she knows she may only have months to live, the star told fans that she does not want to undergo radiotherapy and lose her hair.

Her priority now is to spent as much time as possible with her mother and friends and to throw a huge party to say goodbye to her loved ones before she dies.

“I don’t want to feel like I have to spend whatever time I have left hiding away,” Harding said. “I’m trying to live and enjoy every second of my life, however long it might be.

“I am having a glass of wine or two during all this, because it helps me relax. I’m sure some people might think that’s not a great idea, but I want to try to enjoy myself. I’m at a stage now where I don’t know how many months I have left.

“Who knows, maybe I’ll surprise everyone, but that’s how I’m looking at things,” she added.

The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant urges any fans to seek treatment if they have any suspicion things are not right, saying that was one of the motivations in writing her book.
