PinkNews Futures returns to bridge the gap between LGBT+ talent and an inclusive, fulfilling career
Even without the small matter of a global pandemic, entering the job market can be challenging for LGBT+ people.
Though diversity and inclusion efforts at many top employers have come a long way, entering the workforce as a queer person comes with a unique set of challenges.
It can be difficult to know which employers genuinely value inclusion, which is perhaps why 41-62 per cent of undergraduates go back into the closet in their first job. But it doesn’t always have to be that way.
PinkNews Futures aims to bridge the gap between inclusive companies and LGBT+ graduates, empowering and informing queer jobseekers and – ultimately – setting them up for a bright future.
Now in its seventh year, the careers event returns 12-15 April and includes panel discussions, keynote speakers and a virtual careers fair to help LGBT+ people navigate the job market and connect with potential employers.
This year, the event will feature speakers from a range of industries including finance, media and law. It will also include two days specifically dedicated to STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) careers, on 14-15 April. Expect informative panel discussions on diversity, a masterclass on employability and a careers fair.

PinkNews Futures will offer jobs seekers a masterclass in being LGBT+ in the workplace
The four-day event will introduce LGBT+ talent to potential employers, while also platforming LGBT+ role models who are out and proud in the workplace.
Last year’s PinkNews Futures featured companies such as IBM, Royal London, GCHQ, Snapchat, Zipcar, Latham and Watkins, Baillie Gifford and Macquarie.
Many of the sessions are interactive, and will allow you to connect with potential employers, employees and other LGBT+ young people at a similar stage of their careers.
There will be talks on mental health, race and on the experiences of being a queer woman in the workplace.
PinkNews Futures also hosts a bespoke jobs board as part of the event, so you can browse and apply for opportunities from inclusive employers. It features both entry-level positions and roles for more experienced jobseekers looking for the next step in their career.
