Zack Snyder’s Justice League: UK release date, how to stream and more

The much-anticipated Zack Snyder cut of Justice League is being released on streaming services this week.
The film which brings together DC’s most iconic superheroes will get a worldwide release on 18 March via HBO Max and Sky Cinema.
Fans in the UK and US will be able to simultaneously watch Snyder’s four hour long re-edit of Justice League, which he stepped away from in 2017 due to a family tragedy.
Following this, Warner Bros brought in Avengers Assemble and Buffy the Vampire Slayer director Joss Whedon to complete it, causing behind-the-scenes tensions, including accusations of misconduct by Cyborg actor Ray Fisher.
Whedon’s heavily altered version of the movie was released in late 2017 and mixed negative reviews from critics and fans, who have called for Snyder to release his own cut of the film ever since.

The official plot of the new release reads: “In Zack Snyder’s Justice League, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions.
“The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
Snyder was given the green light to re-cut the original movie in February 2020, which has cost Warner Bros an additional $70 million. It will have a run time of four hours and an ‘R’ rating as opposed to the original’s run time of two hours and a ‘PG-13’ rating.
The new cut will see the film presented in six individual chapters, as well as a 20-minute epilogue, which are titled:
- “Don’t Count on It, Batman”
- “The Age of Heroes”
- “Beloved Mother, Beloved Son”
- “Change Machine”
- “All the King’s Horses”
- “Something Darker”
- Epilogue: “A Father Twice Over”
It’s unknown if the film will eventually get a theatrical release but Snyder has confirmed that he has prepped an IMAX-ready version of the longer cut, which fans will more than likely be interested in, so watch this space.
