Video game companies including PlayStation share statements and donate to #StopAsianHate movement

Video game companies have been sharing statements on social media in the wake of the #StopAsianHate movement.
The movement began after the recent Atlanta shootings in which eight people died, including six women of Asian descent.
Donations to the Stop AAPI Hate campaign have been shared across social media from several high profile video game companies.
“We are troubled by a recent pattern of violence targeting the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. It’s time to take action,” said PlayStation. The tweet stated they would make an undisclosed donation to the campaign and urged fans to do the same.

PlayStation’s tweet was shared by their first-party studios like Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch and Bend Studio.
Square Enix, gearing up for their Presents video event later today, will also be making a donation. In a statement on Twitter, they said:
“We’re troubled and saddened by the acts of hate made against our Asian communities. We’re united in our stand against prejudice, racism and hate and are making a donation to Stop AAPI Hate.”

“Hate has no home on Xbox,” stated Xbox head Phil Spencer, later shared on the official Xbox Twitter account. “For all Asian players and peers, I want you to know that we see you, we hear you, and we will and must do more together to #StopAsianHate.”

Bethesda, the now Microsoft-owned publisher, also shared a statement: “Bethesda rejects racism in all forms and stands in solidarity with our Asian employees and the AAPI community.”

Activision Blizzard, the publisher part-owned by Chinese firm Tencent, issued a long statement. “Our mission – to connect and engage the world through epic entertainment – cannot be accomplished without diverse voices, views, backgrounds, and perspectives,” it reads.
“We actively work to dispel hate and intolerance by creating a wide array of diverse characters in our game and by creating a safe and inclusive environment for our players.”
