Democrat launches bid to remove transphobe Marjorie Taylor Greene from Congress
A Democrat has launched a bid to expel QAnon conspiracy theorist, transphobe and “worst human of 2021” representative Marjorie Taylor Greene from Congress.
California representative Jimmy Gomez introduced a resolution Friday (19 March) to expel Greene, claiming that the Georgia Republican’s involvement in the QAnon conspiracy theory “advocated violence against our peers, the speaker and our government”.
The confusing beliefs of QAnon followers include that liberal celebrities and Democratic officials have been arrested in secret over a large-scale conspiracy to traffic children for ritual Satanic abuse.
An investigation earlier this year by CNN showed that before Greene took office, she had showed her support for several social media posts about executing Democrats, including one calling for a “bullet to the head” of Nancy Pelosi. It was also revealed that in 2018, Greene told commenters on social media that the “stage is being set” for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton to be hanged.
According to NBC News, it is not yet clear whether Gomez’s resolution will be put to a vote, but speaking in the House of Representatives he said he was calling for her expulsion because he believed his “Republican colleagues, and one in particular, wish harm upon this legislative body”.
Referring to the capitol riots, Gomez continued: “It is what I believed after this chamber was turned into a crime scene just 10 weeks ago.
“I take no joy in introducing this resolution but any member who incites political violence and threatens our lives must be expelled.
“And I will do everything I can in my power to protect our democracy and keep all my colleagues safe.”
Marjorie Taylor Greene believes Jimmy Gomez is trying to expel her because she is a “threat to the swamp”.
Greene, who once tried to ban Pride flags at US embassies, was suspended from Twitter for 12 hours on the same day that Jimmy Gomez introduced the resolution to have her removed from Congress.
Although the social media platform insisted her suspension was a mistake, Greene was convinced that the two events were connected.
In a post on the platform Telegram, Greene said: “Today Democrats are introducing a resolution to EXPEL me from Congress.
“And all of a sudden overnight, Twitter suspended me at 1 am for 12 hours for absolutely no reason, with no explanation.
“They’re doing everything they can to silence me because I am a threat to the swamp!”
