Yung Miami accused of queerbaiting after flirting with Megan Thee Stallion despite homophobic past
Megan Thee Stallion and Yung Miami, who is notorious for her previous homophobic comments, have been accused of queerbaiting after flirting on Twitter.
On Monday (5 April) Megan Thee Stallion wrote on Twitter: “I was too shy to tell her in person but Yung Miami I wanna date.”
Yung Miami responded: “I been wanted you too, so what’s up?”
But fans have taken to social media to accuse the pair of “queerbaiting” and “performative bisexuality“, with one writing: “I love Megan but the queerbaiting got old real quick.”
Although Megan Thee Stallion has previously mentioned an attraction to women, Yung Miami became notorious for a homophobic comment she made in 2018, saying that she would “beat” her son if she ever saw him doing “any gay s**t”.

One Twitter user wrote: “The whole ‘I’m homophobic but I will flirt with girls for media attention’ trope is old now, can’t lie.”
Although the Florida-based City Girls rapper initially issued an apology in August 2018, she soon doubled down on her homophobic behaviour when asked about the comments in a radio interview.
Speaking on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, she said: “I didn’t tweet nothing about [the LGBTQ community]… I was just talking about my son. I just said that if I saw anything gay in my son, that I would beat him.
“But that’s just like when your mama tells you, ‘If you break my table I’m gonna beat the s**t out of you’… that don’t mean she’s gonna beat the s**t out of you, she’s just saying it!”
She added: “I have absolutely nothing against gay people, but I wouldn’t want my son to be gay.”
