Oxenfree II: Lost Signals takes centre stage at exciting new Nintendo Indie World showcase
A sequel to Oxenfree was the final game shown during the latest Nintendo Indie World showcase.
Lost Signals looks set to continue the first game’s dark side-scrolling aesthetic and innovative radio mechanic. It will arrive sometime later this year.
Plenty of games were revealed in the showcase, especially for fans of narrative games.
It began with Road 96, a procedural story-driven game set in 1990s middle America that radically alters based on the decisions you make.
Annapurna Interactive, the much-loved publisher, has two new narrative games coming this year: mystery adventure Last Stop in July and the evocative Hindsight later in the year. Both feature unique visuals and gameplay twists.
Aztecha: Forgotten Gods looks like an Aztec twist on Zelda gameplay, as you explore the world for powerful abilities and defeat huge bosses. The aesthetic fuses Aztec mythology with futuristic technology – it’s due out this Autumn.
For a hit of nostalgia, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is due out later this year – classic arcade beat ‘em up gameplay with strong 90s vibes.
Roll7 announced a new title in their OlliOlli skateboarding series. OlliOlli World features a new hand drawn art style and an evolution of the side-scrolling skateboarding gameplay with a stronger story tying it together.
Aerial Knight’s Never Yield is another side-scrolling game, this time focused on free-running through a futuristic Tokyo style Detroit with a very cool soundtrack.
Also revealed for the Nintendo Switch was Cris Tales, an RPG with a fun time travelling twist and gorgeous animated aesthetic, and GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon, a side-scroller with strategic combat and stunning Japanese art.
Other titles already released but now coming to the Switch include: The Longing, There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension, Skul: The Hero Slayer and more.
Plus, a sale on the Switch eShop begins today until 25 April with discounts on tonnes of indie games.
