RuPaul’s Drag Race icon Alyssa Edwards is starring in her own West End show this summer.
Yes, the tongue-popping, lip sync assassin will make her theatre debut in the autobiographical Alyssa, Memoirs of a Queen.
The show will head to London’s Vaudeville Theatre for a limited run between 17-13 June and tickets are now available.
Fans can expect a fully realised autobiographical extravaganza, complete with iconic costumes, high kicks and splits and phenomenal dancers.
She will tell audiences about her rise from young gay boy in Mesquite Texas to pageant queen to global fame as one of the biggest drag stars in the world.
Alyssa Edwards originally competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race season five when fans fell in love with her catchphrases like “backrolls?!” and “girl look how f**king orange you look!”, lip sync abilities and Joan Crawford vs Bette Davis-style drama with fellow contestant Coco Montrese.
She then returned for another iconic outing in All Stars 2 which gave us that “Shut Up and Drive” lip sync alongside Tatianna.
Since the show she’s also had her own Netflix docuseries, Dancing Queen which gave fans an insight into her life as a performer and owner of a dance school in Texas.
The West End show will kick off at Vaudeville Theatre from 7 June with a socially-distanced audience as it will take place ahead of the final step of the government’s roadmap out of lockdown.
Tickets for Alyssa, Memoirs of a Queen are now available from lovetheatre.com. They’re priced from £22.50.
It follows up the announcement that fellow Drag Race stars Latrice Royale and Willam would be appearing in the West End play Death Drop.
The pair will make their debut in the spectacular drag murder mystery musical at Garrick Theatre for an eight-week run starting 19 May and you can get tickets here.
