Singer-songwriter Angel Olsen comes out as gay and introduces partner

Singer songwriter Angel Olsen has come out as gay, introducing her partner to the world in a beautiful Instagram post.

Olsen, known for her incredible voice and emotional tone which frequently brings fans to tears, recently announced a new box set titled “Song of the Lark and Other Far Memories”, which combines her two most recent albums, “All Mirrors” and “Whole New Mess”, with bonus photos, sketches and an unreleased track.

But just as exciting to her fans, if not even more so, was another announcement via Instagram on Friday (16 April).

Sharing photos of herself, her partner, a tattoo and a pair of loafers, she wrote: “My beau, I’m gay.”

Olsen also added a beaming photo to her Instagram story, and wrote: “I’m gay!!!”

Her fans were beside themselves, as many had suspected she might come out as LGBT+ after she dropped hints in previous interviews.

In 2019, she told Rolling Stone that she had considered both living alone with cats and giving up music to become a stay-at-home mum.

She said: “It was like… what if I’m gay… no, I’m not gay… maybe I just hate men… or I need to get married soon and have kids… or I don’t know if marriage is in the cards and if I have a kid maybe I’ll just have it by myself?”

In the same year, she told The New York Times Magazine she was straight “for now, until further notice”.

One fan wrote: “So proud of my queen Angel Olsen on coming out.”

“Angel Olsen gay?” wrote another. “Of course, because who TF would say ‘coming from an endless place heaven hits me when I see your face I go blind every time’ to a man.”

Angel Olsen’s partner is HBO writer Adele Thibodeaux.

Adele Thibodeaux, a writer for the HBO comedy series High Maintenance, and Angel Olsen have posted photos together on social media since December, 2020, according to Variety.
