JoJo Siwa sends adorable message welcoming Colton Underwood to the LGBT+ community
JoJo Siwa sent a sweet message of love an acceptance to Colton Underwood, who proudly came out as gay last week.
The YouTube star told TMZ: “The world is really accepting. There’s a few people that aren’t, but the world in a general whole is, and it’s really cool, it’s a good place.
“Just be yourself. It doesn’t matter. Love is love.”
JoJo Siwa, who rose to fame on Dance Moms, came out on Twitter in January. She currently identifies as queer or pansexual, but says she’s “still figur[ing] it out”.
The Bachelor star Colton Underwood came out as gay last week during an interview with Good Morning America: “I’ve ran from myself for a long time, I’ve hated myself for a long time, and I’m gay,” he said. “I came to terms with that earlier this year and have been processing it.”
He also spoke about his previous career as an American football player and how the culture of heteronormativity made him repress his identity: “I had made mistakes in my sports and my athletic career. And when you make mistakes, that play was gay.
“Gay was always affiliated with a connotation of negativity. I think there’s a lot of things that when I look back, no wonder I held it in.”
When asked about Underwood’s coming out, Siwa said: “Congrats! That probably means that he’s happy too.”
She also responded to recent speculation about a new gay season of The Bachelor, after the show’s producers were “moved” by Underwood’s coming out: “I would want no participation in it obviously, because I have my girlfriend who is my favourite human ever. She makes me so happy.
“But that is a pretty sick idea. A gay Bachelor? Yeah!”
Since coming out, Siwa has been constantly raving about how much she loves her girlfriend, and it’s completely adorable.
She recently gushed to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that her partner was “the most amazing, wonderful, perfect, most beautiful girlfriend in the whole world.”
“I’m just so happy,” she added. “Because now I get to share what makes me the happiest with the world and it makes my heart so happy.”
JoJo’s parents were also asked about her coming out in the interview. They replied: “We love her. We love her for everything that she is.”
