Caitlyn Jenner says ‘California has bigger issues than pronouns’ after being misgendered on The View
Caitlyn Jenner has accepted an apology from The View host Joy Behar after she misgendered her on live TV.
The Olympian turned reality star announced her run for governor of California on Friday (23 April) and has already been misgendered repeatedly in the media coverage.
Discussing her turn to politics on ABC’s The View, co-host Joy Behar used the incorrect pronouns for Jenner three times.
Behar said: “[She’s] got this guy Brad Parscale running [her] campaign.”
She corrected herself in the second and third instances: “That’s who is running [her] campaign – or her campaign, rather.”
Later in the show Behar issued an apology, calling it a “mix-up”.
She added: “I think I just didn’t get enough sleep last night. I had no intention of mixing [her pronouns] up and I tried to correct it immediately. But, whatever, it just came out. So I’m sorry if anybody was upset by that.”
Jenner later tweeted in response: “Don’t sweat it, Joy Behar. I’m not about cancel culture. I know where your heart is. California has bigger issues than pronouns.”
Caitlyn Jenner announced her bid to unseat Democratic governor Gavin Newsom after weeks of speculation.
In her announcement she called herself a “compassionate disrupter”.
“For the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and social interests over people,” Jenner said
Some LGBT+ rights organisations have openly stated they will not support her campaign.
Equality California tweeted: “Make no mistake: we can’t wait to elect a trans governor of California.
“But Caitlyn Jenner spent years telling the LGBTQ+ community to trust Donald Trump. We saw how that turned out. Now she wants us to trust her?”

While many LGBT+ people do not support Jenner’s campaign, they have been quick to defend her against misgendering.
One tweeted: “Stop being transphobic with Caitlyn Jenner’s pronouns. Let’s say it together… SHE is a terrible person.”

SHE is a terrible person.
SHE is an asshole.
Do not vote for HER.
