First screens of forthcoming shooter Battlefield 6 leak, suggesting full trailer is imminent

Battlefield V

Images that appear to show screens from upcoming online multiplayer shooter Battlefield 6 have leaked online before its official trailer.

DICE, the game‘s developer, is expected to reveal the new title in the coming weeks, but images were posted on social media over the weekend.

The authenticity of these images was further corroborated by influencer Tom Henderson, who has previously published several reports about the game ahead of its release date.

The apparent in-game images show off a beach location with an ominous tornado in the distance, and a rocket ship targeted from some sort of vehicle indicating a more modern take than the previous game in the series.

On 22 April, DICE published an update on Battlefield 6, telling fans to expect a full reveal soon.

General manager Oskar Gabrielson promised the team would have “a lot to show you in the coming months” and that they’re creating a “jaw-dropping experience”.

“I can tell you it is a bold step. It has everything we love about Battlefield – and takes all of it to the next level. Epic scale. All-out military warfare. Crazy, unexpected moments. Game-changing destruction. Massive battles, packed with more players and mayhem than ever before. All brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs. Get ready for our reveal ‘soon™’ ;)” he said.

According to Henderson’s previous reports, the game will be known simply as Battlefield and will be set in a near future with advanced military technology, drones and vehicles.

It’s also set to have day/night cycles and a weather system – that tornado in the image should have quite the impact on gameplay.

If you’re yet to experience the Battlefield series, PS Plus owners are able to play Battlefield V for free this month as part of the subscription.

This fifth game in the series goes back to its roots with a World War II setting, epic online battles, and a single player War Stories mode.

Battlefield V is available from 4 May.
