Everybody’s Talking About Jamie: feel-good musical announces West End reopening date for 2021
Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is reopening on London’s West End and it’s exactly what the world needs right now.
The hit feel-good musical will return to its home of the Apollo Theatre from 20 May, with tickets now on sale from Ticketmaster and Love Theatre.
It will reopen following government guidelines, including a socially distanced audience, contactless ticketing and a one-way system in the theatre, as confirmed by Nimax Theatres.
Inspired by a true story, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie follows a teenager living on a council estate in Sheffield.
Jamie New doesn’t fit in and he’s terrified about the future, but he knows he’s going to be a star and with support from his mum and friends he overcomes prejudice to step into the spotlight.
This all takes place alongside a soundtrack which features “Work of Art”, “Spotlight”, “Out of the Darkness” and the title track.
The show currently stars Noah Thomas as Jamie New alongside Eastenders legend Shane Richie as Hugo and his drag alter ego Loco Chanelle.
It’s previously seen the likes of Drag Race star Bianca Del Rio and judge Michelle Visage, Steps’ Faye Tozer and comedians Katy Brand and Rufus Hound appear in guest roles.
Since its debut in Sheffield the musical moved to the West End where it was nominated for five Olivier Awards and won two WhatsOnStage Awards.
Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is due to re-start its national UK tour in late 2021, with tickets available here, as well as open productions in Australia and North America for the first time ever.
The musical is also being adapted into a feature length film starring Max Harwood in the lead role as well as Richard E. Grant, Sharon Horgan and Sarah Lancashire.
It was originally expected to be released in late 2020 but has been pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic, however fans were excited after a fabulous new trailer dropped.
This news follows up a number of big West End announcements including the return of Wicked, Mary Poppins and Hamilton while the musical adaption of Frozen will finally open in August.
Tickets for Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at Apollo Theatre are available from Ticketmaster and Love Theatre while UK tour tickets are available from ATG Tickets.
