Chrissy Teigen apologises for telling model Courtney Stodden to kill themselves

Chrissy Teigen has issued a lengthy apology to model Courtney Stodden after they spoke out about the abusive messages she sent them a decade ago.
Stodden claims that in 2011, Teigen allegedly sent them direct messages on Twitter telling them to take a “dirt nap”.
The model, 26, opened up to The Daily Beast about how they were vaulted into fame – and infamy – for being 16 when they married then 51-year-old actor Doug Hutchinson.
The criticism they weathered from celebrities especially proved brutal for them, they said, including from Teigen who “wouldn’t just publicly tweet about me to take a ‘dirt nap’, but would privately DM me and tell me to kill myself.
“Things like: ‘I can’t wait for you to die’,” they said.
Amig backlash, Chrissy Teigen apologised Wednesday (12 May) for her historic actions on Twitter, admitting to the wrongdoing.
“I’m mortified and sad at who I used to be,” she tweeted. “I was an insecure, attention-seeking troll.
“I am ashamed and completely embarrassed at my behaviour but that is nothing compared to how I made Courtney feel.

“I have worked so hard to give you guys joy and be beloved and the feeling of letting you down is nearly unbearable, truly.
“These were not my only mistakes and surely won’t be my last as hard as I try but god I will try!
“Since I publicly fueled all this, I want to also publicly apologize. I’m so sorry, Courtney. I hope you can heal now knowing how deeply sorry I am.”
Chrissy Teigen, 35, claimed she had sought to “connect with Courtney privately”.
“I have never heard from her or her camp in private,” Courtney Stodden wrote in an Instagram post. “In fact, she blocked me on Twitter.”

“There were a lot of celebrities acting like playground bullies,” Stodden told The Daily Beast.
“Some of the worst treatment I got was from women, and we’re not going to get anywhere if we keep holding each other back.”
According to screen captures of tweets shared by PopCrave, the deluge of tweets Teigen sent a teenage Stodden included telling them they had “rabies” and: “I hate you.”
In March this year, Stodden called out Teigen after she briefly left Twitter over negative comments.
They shared a screenshot of Teigen belittling them in a 2011 tweet which read: “Saying Courtney Stodden’s Facebook page got shut down for being ‘too sexy’ is like saying the Nazi’s were just meanies.
“An, not quite.”
