Bimini Bon Boulash and Sadiq Khan went for brunch in the most ambitious crossover event in history
Drag Race UK icon and saviour of 2021 Bimini Bon Boulash and Sadiq Khan sat down to discuss queer venues as bars and restaurants finally reopened their doors.
Bimini shared a picture of themselves with the mayor of London to mark Monday’s (17 May) loosening of COVID-19 restrictions.
“Had a gorgeous brunch at [vegetarian restaurant] Mildred’s London and a chat about the importance of supporting venues and businesses, particularly queer spaces, now that London is back open again,” Bimini tweeted.
“We’re one step closer to being fully together again and the energy in the air is electrifying.
“Also if you go to Camden listen out for my voice on the tannoy, recommending my favourite foodie delights in nearby Camden Lock London, I love you and you’ll always be my home. Be safe, sensible and let’s support our city.”

Bimini was promoting Khan’s Let’s Do London campaign, announced shortly after his reelection as London Mayor. The £6m campaign is aiming to boost London’s culture, hospitality and retail industries in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Khan told TimeOut in an interview about the new project: “Let’s Do London is about bringing all the key players in London together: the Globe, the National Theatre, the Southbank, the V&A, the O2, great chefs, great artists like David Hockney, great live music venues, pubs, bars and restaurants.
“We want to make sure that this summer is the best summer we’ve ever seen.”
Khan has also long been an open supporter of LGBT+ rights in the UK capital, urging the government to push forward with reforms to the Gender Recognition Act.
Sadiq Khan is a Bimini stan
