Olly Alexander gushes over Kylie Minogue in adorable video – and reveals they’ve recorded a song together

Years & Years star Olly Alexander has revealed that Kylie Minogue is set to join him on a remix of “Starstruck”, proving once again that she is the ultimate gay icon.

The Years & Years singer dished details of the spectacular collaboration on TikTok on Tuesday (18 May) in which he reflected on meeting Kylie when his band supported her on tour in 2015.

Moving through the years, Olly Alexander recounted all the times he and Kylie Minogue have collided, including the time they duetted on “Better the Devil You Know” in 2016.

That prompted Alexander to ask if the pop icon would be up for recording vocals for a remix of Years & Years’ most recent single “Starstruck” – and she said yes.

“She’s the best, I love her so much, I love you Kylie!” an understandably excited Alexander screamed in the TikTok.

Kylie Minogue and Olly Alexander are ‘the perfect combination’

Needless to say, fans were overjoyed at the news. “You and Kylie! The perfect combination,” one person commented, along with a heart-eye emoji.

“Kylie can do no wrong! Just like Dolly,” another wrote, while other fans demanded Alexander give them a release date.

One fan summed up the thoughts of queer people everywhere, writing: “This collab is gonna be so so sparkly I could just BURST into a big fat rainbow!!!!!”

The news comes just one week after Alexander duetted with Elton John at the BRIT Awards in London’s O2 on a cover of Pet Shop Boys 1980s classic “It’s a Sin”.

The incredible performance – which saw Alexander draped on top of a grand piano while John played the instrument – won praise from LGBT+ viewers for its unabashed queerness.

The pair have also released a version of their cover on streaming platforms to help raise funds for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

In March, it was confirmed that Years & Years will continue as an “Olly Alexander solo project”, with former band members Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Turkmen leaving to pursue other projects.

The group said they are “still good friends”, but said their upcoming album “has been an Olly endeavour”.

In April, Alexander dropped “Starstruck” under the Years & Years moniker, making it his first single he has released as a solo artist.
