Everybody's Talking About Jamie film to premiere on Amazon Prime

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, the hotly-anticipated film adaptation of the West End musical, is bypassing cinemas and going straight to Amazon Prime Video.

The musical film was originally supposed to hit cinemas in October 2020, but the release date was pushed back twice due to the coronavirus pandemic. Disney later removed the film from its release schedule entirely.

Amazon Studios announced on Thursday (20 May) that it has acquired Everybody’s Talking About Jamie and it will release the film in more than 240 countries on 17 September via Prime Video.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie follows Sheffield-based teenager Jamie New (Max Harwood) as he dreams of a life on the stage. The powerful film charts his journey to becoming a fierce drag queen – but it is not all plain sailing.

While Jamie has the unconditional love and support of his mother (Sarah Lancashire), his father (Ralph Ineson) is unsupportive and struggles to accept Jamie’s identity.
