Blue’s Clues celebrates LGBT+ families in Pride sing-along featuring Drag Race’s Nina West
Blue’s Clues is getting ready to celebrate Pride by releasing a catchy sing-along to honour the LGBT+ community – featuring Drag Race star Nina West.
The video titled “The Blue’s Clues Pride Parade Sing-Along” was released on the show’s YouTube Channel on Friday (28 May) – just days ahead of the beginning of Pride in June. The animated Pride parade is hosted by a cartoon version of Nina West, who appeared on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 11.
The colourfully dressed, cartoon drag queen sings about all different kinds of families passing her in the parade in the background. She showcases same-sex families that have “two mommies” or “two daddies” that “love each other so proudly”.
The song also includes animal families with members who are non-binary, trans, asexual, bisexual and pansexual as well as people who “choose their family”. There are also floats that feature drag kings and queens and allies to the queer community.
After 10 floats, Nina West sings that “love is love is love”, and “everyone should love proudly” as people “all go marching in the big parade”. The Drag Race star finishes the song by thanking Blue and wishing everyone a “happy Pride month”.
The real Nina West posted about the adorable and catchy video on Twitter. She wrote: “I am so excited to help lead a Pride parade with my pal Blue!”

Many people have praised Blue’s Clues for its inclusive lyrics and representing the beauty and breadth of the LGBT+ community.
The Try Guys star Eugene Lee Young, who came out as gay in 2019, praised the Pride sing-along in a series of posts on Twitter. Young said the children’s cartoon segment has “more queer representation than anything else out there”, and it is “melting my cold gay heart”.

Another person said that “words cannot describe how happy” the Blue’s Clues Pride video made him. He added: “Blue’s Clues was my favorite as a kid, and I cannot believe that it would continue to be important to me as an adult.”

One person warned that if people “see me crying over the Blue’s Clues Pride parade” it is because they are “very happy”.

And there were tears all around as another fan admitted that they are “sobbing over it”. They also joked that they didn’t have Blue’s Clues “kicking off” Pride month on their “2021 bingo card” – “but here we are”.
