Fortnite Season 7 launches with intergalactic ‘Invasion’ theme featuring flyable UFOs
The new season of online battle royale Fortnite launches today and it’s gone intergalactic.
Invasion is the title of Season 7 and, of course, it’s all about aliens.
“They came without warning, their intentions were unclear. But what’s clear now is that a war has come to the Island,” reads a promotional tweet from the official Fortnite account.
The accompanying story trailer shows crop circles and other strange phenomena, before an alien invasion from a huge UFO.

Plot-wise, a mysterious alien army is invading and you’ll meet various characters who embrace or oppose the invasion. Doctor Slone, previously in contact with Agent Jones, is now fully revealed as leading the Imagined Order against the invasion and will be available as a new skin.
Other new skins include Superman (sadly not modeled after Henry Cavil) and Rick Sanchez from the cartoon Rick and Morty who is canonically pansexual.
That means Rick is one of only a handful of LGBT+ skins available in the game, alongside the likes of Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn and Deadpool.
A battle pass trailer, shared by Gamespot, shows an all-out war with new enemies to fight, new sci-fi weapons including a gravity gun, and alien abductions.
"We now stand at the brink of war with an enemy we do not understand."

Flying saucers will feature heavily in this Fortnite season: they’ll not only abduct players but can be hijacked and used against enemies. They’ll also rain nuts and bolts that can be used to craft new weapons.
You’ll also be given a new Kymera outfit at the start of the season – it’s an alien specimen that can be customised with new features collected throughout the season.
See details of the new season on the Fortnite website.
This alien-themed content will replace the Primal content from Season 6. That introduced beasts and dinosaurs, an emphasis on bows, and new skins for the likes of Lara Croft and Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn.
