Later Daters is the queer retirement home Xbox dating sim you didn’t know you needed in your life
Later Daters, the queer elderly dating sim, is out now on Xbox consoles.
Previously available on PC (via Steam) and Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Series X/S owners can now also find love in a retirement home.
The game is priced at £12.49 and bundles together both parts of the game that were previously available separately. That means you can experience the entire story as one, as well as the free Cribbage mini-game – a card game popular with the elderly community.
Later Daters has been lauded for its diverse representation.
For starters, the game is a dating sim focused on the elderly that proves it’s never too late to find love.
And with its diverse cast of characters there’s someone for every persuasion, with LGBT+ and poly relationship options.
As the newest member of the Ye OLDE retirement community, you’re able to customise your own character too in terms of looks, pronouns, and background.
From there you’ll meet a variety of silver foxes who you can romance, casually date, or become polyamorous with.
Later Daters has an endearing and colourful art style and wonderfully amusing writing, with multiple dialogue choices to shape the story.
More than that, it’s a reminder that elderly people can still experience fulfilling sex lives later in life – and they don’t have to be monogamous.
The game also touches on vulnerability and mortality, mixing sad truths with the joy of life.
Later Daters was released last year and was one of the best LGBT+ indie games from 2020, alongside the likes of If Found, Murder by Numbers and Ikenfell.
