Britney Spears gives rare career update: ‘I’m in a transition in my life’
Britney Spears has said she has “no idea” if she will ever perform on stage again.
In an Instagram Q&A session, the singer responded to a fan who asked whether she feels ready to take to the stage again, or if she’ll ever do so.
“I have no idea,” Spears replied. “I’m having fun right now.
“I’m in a transition in my life and I’m enjoying myself, so that’s it.”

Spears’ comments also come ahead of a rare in-person court appearance in which she will address her conservatorship, scheduled for Wednesday (23 June).
Her lawyers have not specified what matters she wishes to speak about, but the singer has previously made clear that she wants her father Jamie Spears removed from the legal arrangement.
Spears has subject to the conservatorship since 2018. For the majority of that time Jamie has controlled her career, estate and personal wellbeing.
In a court appearance last year, Spears’ lawyer said that the star is “afraid” of her father and will “not perform again if [he] is in charger of her career“.
This echoed similar claims made by Spears’ manager, Larry Rudolph, after she cancelled a planned second Las Vegas residency in 2019.
“From what I have gathered it’s clear to me she should not be going back to do this Vegas residency, not in the near future and possibly never again,” he said.
Despite Spears’ stated wishes, Jamie currently retains joint control over her estate alongside wealth management company Bessemer Trust.
Since the release of the documentary Framing Britney Spears, the star has increasingly spoken out about her personal life.
She admitted that she cried for “weeks” over the explosive documentary, which delved into the misogynistic treatment she has experienced from the media, as well as her conservatorship.
“I didn’t watch the documentary but from what I did see of it I was embarrassed by the light they put me in,” Spears said in March.
“I cried for two weeks and well …. I still cry sometimes !!!! I have been exposed my whole life performing in front of people !!!
“It takes a lot of strength to TRUST the universe with your real vulnerability cause I’ve always been so judged… insulted… and embarrassed by the media… and I still am till this day !!!!”
