Justice League’s Zack Snyder ends debate on whether Batman performs oral sex
Zack Snyder has offered his thoughts on whether Batman performs oral sex.
The Justice League director waded into the truly bizarre debate after Justin Halpern, co-creator of animated series Harley Quinn, claimed DC Comics made the show remove a scene showing Batman going down on Catwoman.
“IDC was like, ‘You can’t do that. You absolutely cannot do that,'” he told Variety.
“They’re like, ‘Heroes don’t do that.’ So, we said, ‘Are you saying heroes are just selfish lovers?’ They were like, ‘No, it’s that we sell consumer toys for heroes. It’s hard to sell a toy if Batman is also going down on someone.'”
Halpern’s comments led to a truly hilarious discussion on social media as fans wondered why Batman would want to shy away from pleasuring a partner – and Zack Snyder was happy to offer his thoughts.

While Halpern’s comments led to something of a social media storm, he also clarified that DC has been “supportive of their series and has allowed them to push the envelope numerous times”.
Elsewhere in his interview with Variety, Halpern said they are afforded more freedom when writing for villains – as they’re allowed to do things that “heroes” simply cannot do.
“It’s incredibly gratifying and free to be using characters that are considered villains because you just have so much more leeway,” he said.
Harley Quinn is available to stream in the US on HBO Max.
