Netflix makes last-minute RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars announcement

Drag Race All Stars 6: Netflix confirms UK release date

In a last minute announcement, Netflix has said that RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season six will start airing this Thursday (24 June) in the UK.

Since RuPaul confirmed the release date for All Stars 6 earlier this month, British and Irish fans have been left hanging, wondering when and where they’d be able to watch the new run.

But on Tuesday (22 June), Netflix UK confirmed that it would airing the show, and that the UK release date would be the same as in the US.

The streamer tweeted: “We’re finally able to confirm that not only will RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 6 be coming to Netflix UK weekly, but new episodes will be available on Thursday afternoons.

“Exact timings TBC, but we’ll yell as soon as episodes one and two are available on Thursday.”

Last month, leaked promo pictures confirmed which 13 queens will be returning to the fold.

The line-up of queens competing in the new Drag Race All Stars season was revealed to be: A’keria Chanel Davenport (season 11), Eureka O’Hara (seasons nine and 10), Ginger Minj (season seven), Jan (season 12), Jiggly Caliente (season four), Pandora Boxx (season two), Ra’Jah O’Hara (season 11), Scarlet Envy (season 11), Serena ChaCha (season five), Silky Ganache (season 11), Sonique (season two), Trinity K Bonet (season six) and Yara Sofia (season six).

Fans were over the moon, declaring that their “prayers” had been “answered”, and Drag Race UK star Cheryl Hole responded: “Netflix always treating us like queens.”

In the US, fans were furious when it was announced that Drag Race All Stars 6 would be moving from VH1 to the new Paramount Plus streaming service.

The announcement followed an aborted move for All Stars 5, which was announced for the group’s cable network Showtime last year.

After criticism from fans over the “greedy” move, the series moved back to VH1, officially because of COVID-19-related “scheduling adjustments”.
