Drag Race RuVeals new theme song with inclusive lyric change for All Stars 6
The Drag Race theme song has been remixed for All Stars 6, with inclusive new lyrics and an updated production. – and fans are here for it.
The first two episodes of the new season dropped on Thursday (24 June) and fans were quick to notice the theme song had been remixed.
The lyrics are now: “RuPaul’s Drag Race, may the best drag queen win”. In previous seasons, the lyrics were: “May the best woman win”.
RuPaul had previously dropped his “Gentleman, start your engines, and may the best woman win” catchphrase to be more inclusive of trans contestants.
Fans first noticed the switch in All Stars 4, when he used “ladies and gentlemen” to include Gia Gunn, who came out as a trans woman after her first appearence in Drag Race‘s sixth season.
Gia later said that she had confronted Ru about trans issues, telling him she felt “disregarded”, but it was cut from the show.
More recently, season 13 of Drag Race featured the show’s first trans man contestant Gottmik, which coincided with RuPaul using the new catchphrase “Racers, start your engines, and may the best drag queen win!” in the werk room.
Viewers took to social media to share their thoughts on the Drag Race theme tune “glow up”. Most praised the “growth” and the “gender inclusivity” of the new lyrics.

Although some were less sure about the “remix they decided to settle on” for the Drag Race theme.
Love the expanded inclusivity of this. Fucking hate the remix they decided to settle on. https://t.co/uhf0e8TPAe— Hunter Heilman (@HungerHuman) June 25, 2021
Ru has previously been criticised for failing to include trans contestants. He told The Guardian in 2018 that he would “probably not” allow a trans drag queen on the show. He later claimed the comments were taken “so out of context”.
Since then the show has made steps towards trans inclusion, and All Stars 6 marks the first time Drag Race has included two openly transgender women have been in the line-up: Jiggly Caliente and Kylie Sonique Love.
Both women played on Ru’s catchphrases in their opening lines. Kylie quipped: “Ooh girl, you got female”. Jiggly said: “Well, mother did say may the best woman win.”
