Eurovision winners Måneskin share defiant kiss in Poland for LGBT+ rights: ‘Love is never wrong’
Eurovision winners Damiano David and Thomas Raggi of Måneskin shared a passionate kiss on stage in Poland to show their support for LGBT+ rights.
The Eurovision idols were performing at the Polsat SuperHit Festival in Sopot, Poland when the bandmates decided to share a kiss at the end of their set.
“We think that everyone should be allowed to do this without any fear,” Damiano said to rapturous applause from the audience.
“We think that everyone should be completely free to be whoever the f**k you want. Thank you Poland! Love is never wrong.”
Sharing the clip on Instagram, Måneskin wrote: “Equal rights for the LGBTQIA+ community,” alongside a Pride flag emoji.
Måneskin has been inundated with supportive messages from fans for taking a stand for the LGBT+ community, with many pointing out the significance of doing so in Poland. The country has become an increasingly hostile place for queer people in recent years.
“I AM SCREAMING SO HARD. YES YES YES YES YES YES YES,” NikkieTutorials commented.
“Yaaaaaaas!” another Instagram user added. “We wanna be free in this country we wanna be who we wanna be for real! Love is strong for everybody!”

One fan said they were crying with happiness after watching the powerful moment, while another thanked them on behalf of Poland’s embattled LGBT+ community.
Måneskin win praise for same-sex kiss in Poland, where homophobia is on the rise
Måneskin’s stand for LGBT+ rights comes after a turbulent few years for Poland’s LGBT+ community. There was international outcry in 2019 when it emerged that numerous municipalities and regions in Poland had declared themselves “LGBT free zones”.
But international pressure did little to change the country’s course. Polish president Andrzej Duda later won his re-election bid after repeatedly lashing out at LGBT+ people throughout his campaign.
Ahead of the presidential election in 2020, Duda attacked same-sex marriage and adoption. He went on to publish a “family charter” in which he promised to “prohibit the propagation” of LGBT+ “ideology”.
The crackdown on LGBT+ rights has continued, with Duda’s Law and Justice party announcing in March that they will close a legal loophole that allows same-sex couples to adopt children as single applicants.
Måneskin’s empowering show of support comes just weeks after they emerged victorious at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest.
