Britney Spears’ sister Jamie Lynn breaks silence after bombshell court appearance

Jamie Lynn Spears has finally broken her silence after Britney Spears spoke out against her conservatorship for the first time in a bombshell court appearance.
In an impassioned, 20-minute long testimony last Wednesday (23 June), Britney Spears told a Los Angeles court that she wants to be freed from her conservatorship, which was put in place in 2008 and has given her father substantial control over her personal life.
Britney’s sister Jamie Lynn had remained quiet on the explosive court appearance, leading fans to question where she stood.
On Monday (28 June), Jamie Lynn finally spoke out about her sister’s conservatorship in a video posted to her Instagram stories.
“I just want take a second to address a few things,” an emotional Jamie Lynn said. “The only reason I haven’t before is because I felt like until my sister is able to speak for herself and say what she felt she needed to say publicly that it wasn’t my place, and that it wasn’t the right thing to do.
“But now that she’s very clearly spoken and said what she needed to say, I feel like I can follow her lead and say what I feel I need to say.
“I think it’s extremely clear since the day I was born I have only loved, adored and supported my sister. This is my freaking big sister before any of this bulls**t.
“I don’t care if she wants to run away to a rainforest and have a zillion babies in the middle of nowhere, or if she wants to come back and dominate the world the way she has so many times before, because I have nothing to gain or lose either way. This situation does not affect me either way because I am only her sister who is only concerned about her happiness.”
Jamie Lynn went on to say that she made “a conscious choice” in the past to only participate in Britney’s life “as her sister” and as an aunt to her children.

“Maybe I didn’t support her the way the public would like me to with a hashtag on a public platform, but I can assure you that I’ve supported my sister long before there was a hashtag and I’ll support her long after. Note that,” she said.
Jamie Lynn said Britney knows she loves and supports her, adding: “I’m not my family, I am my own person and I am speaking for myself.
“I’m so proud of her for using her voice. I’m so proud of her for requesting new counsel, like I told her to do many years ago – oh, not on a big public platform, but just in a personal conversation between two sisters, so I’m very proud that she’s taken that step.
“If ending the conservatorship, flying to Mars or whatever the hell else she wants to do to be happy, I support that 100 per cent, because I support my sister, I love my sister, always have, always will, as long as she’s happy. So let’s keep praying. That’s all.”
Jamie Lynn’s comments come less than a week after Britney Spears shocked the world by opening up about her feelings of anger, betrayal and hurt that have stemmed from being locked into a conservatorship from over a decade.
In her virtual court appearance, Britney claimed her conservatorship has stopped her from marrying boyfriend Sam Asghari and has refused to allow her to have any more children.
“I want to end the conservatorship without having to be evaluated. I want to petition to end the conservatorship,” she told the court.
“I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive. There are thousands of abusive conservatorships.
“It is my wish and dream for all of this to end. I want my life back.”
