Lil Nas X schools troll who doesn’t seem to understand why gay artists have had to hide their truth

Lil Nas X has eviscerated a troll who accused him of being an “industry plant created for pure shock value and the low vibrational crowd”.

The singer finally dropped his music video for “Industry Baby” last week, sending fans into a tailspin with his nude shower routine and Shawshank Redemption inspired antics.

But not everybody was impressed. Nicole, a Twitter user who ambitiously describes herself as a “media personality” and YouTuber, hit out at Lil Nas X on Twitter following the release of the new song.

Nicole listed a number of queer artists, including Freddie Mercury, Boy George, Elton John and Melissa Etheridge, adding that they were “exceptionally talented people who happen to be gay”.

She went on to suggest that Lil Nas X does not live up to their standards, branding him an “industry plant” who was “created” by label bosses.

Lil Nas X thinks troll doesn’t like that he’s flaunting his sexuality

In what has become his trademark style, Lil Nas X absolutely destroyed Nicole with some facts and reason.

“Many, if not all, of these artists had to hide their sexuality for majority of their career,” Lil Nas X wrote on Twitter.

“You seem to only respect gay artists when the gay part is tucked away. You don’t like me because I embrace my sexuality instead of hiding it and never speaking on it for your comfort.”

Nicole defended herself by claiming her criticism was regarding Lil Nas X’s “talent”, but fans of the star weren’t willing to accept that.

She later put her Twitter account on private, presumably in an effort to get away from thousands of music fans sliding into her mentions.

Nicole’s comments come after a stellar few months for Lil Nas X. He released his international hit “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” in earlier this year, winning acclaim from queer music fans for his unabashed approach to sexuality.

Last week, he finally released his new song “Industry Baby” after weeks of teasing it on TikTok.

He has also suggested that his debut album could be released before the end of the summer.
