Twitch streamer Pokimane roasts sexist viewer: ‘You think I give a f**k about your two dollar sub?’
Popular Twitch streamer Pokimane absolutely schooled a sexist viewer live on Twitch.
It’s no secret that sadly women on Twitch are subject to unnecessary abuse. Pokimane is among the biggest streamers on the platform, with a following of 8.1 million, but unfortunately that doesn’t mean she’s immune to sexism.
The incident on her stream occurred during a discussion about another streamer, Rumay “Hafu” Wang.
In the 2008 Blizzcon regional finals, a World of Warcraft team competed with a name that specifically expressed hate towards Hafu. At the time, she was just seventeen years old.
Pokimane discussed this event on a recent stream and showed her support for Hafu. But one viewer decided to mock the situation.
Looking through the chat log, it showed the viewer had made inappropriate comments about Hafu and then had called Pokimane and her mod team “boring” for not allowing the comments.
When she banned them, they complained they would unsubscribe if the ban wasn’t reversed.
“You are exactly the kind of person that we don’t want in my community or in the greater gaming community at all,” said Pokimane. “It is not ‘just a joke’ to call someone who’s underage hot and justify the fact that people are saying they were going to sexually assault them.”
She continued: “Also, it’s not okay to instead of apologising for your s****y comments, to instead try and flip it and call me or my mods ‘boring’ for ‘not getting the joke.’ You are so oblivious to your own problems, it’s painful… You think I give a f**k about your two dollar sub? You think that’s going to make me think that what you’re saying is ok? I hope you get banned off this whole platform my guy.”
Well said Pokimane.
