70-year-old Halo announcer posts inspiring ‘trans rights’ video – and Xbox chime in too
Halo announcer Jeff Steitzer has posted a Cameo video saying “trans rights!”
The voice of Halo multiplayer, Steitzer is best known as the game’s announcer among other work on stage and screen.
The clip was shared by Twitter user tanisthelesbiab.

“In your case I think this is going to be a somewhat different kind of recording,” says Steitzer, referring to the usual requests to repeat lines from the game.
The seventy–year–old continued: “The struggles of trans people reminds me so much of all the other struggles that I’ve been witness to over the many years that I have been alive.
“And now I see trans folks like yourself who basically want nothing more than to enjoy the equality that everybody else aspires to and which I for one think you should have.
“So I am happy to say ‘trans rights!’”
Tanis then followed up on the tweet saying “I’m actually crying from that video of the announcer saying that, it’s so awesome to know he’s even more badass”.

Not only has the video gone viral, the official Xbox account responded saying “He’s absolutely right”.

Another response highlights a similar video from Steve Downes, the voice of Master Chief from the Halo series.
“A Spartan’s job is to fight for the rights of all humanity, so with that in mind… trans rights are human rights,” he says.
LGBT+ gamers were incredibly happy to see the clip, noting their appreciation at Steitzer not just saying the line but speaking his views too.

So, who will be next?
Halo Infinite, the next game in the series, is due out this holiday season. It will feature an epic single-player adventure as well as free-to-play multiplayer.
