Miley Cyrus offers to help educate DaBaby: ‘It’s easier to cancel someone than to forgive’

Miley Cyrus offered to help DaBaby learn about HIV/AIDS and the LGBT+ community after he ignited a firestorm with a homophobic rant.
On Wednesday (4 August) the “Wrecking Ball” hitmaker told Instagram she has reached out to the rapper, who earlier this week apologised for the homophobic tirade that has cost him multiple gigs, brand deals and respect.
Speaking as a “proud and loyal member of the LGBTQIA+ community”, Cyrus wrote that “it’s easier to cancel someone than to find forgiveness and compassion in ourselves or take the time to change hearts and mind”.
She also revealed in the caption that she has directly messaged DaBaby on the social media platform.
The 28-year-old said: “Would love to talk and see how we can learn from each other and help be part of making a more just and understanding future!”

Miley Cyrus continued: “The internet can fuel a lot of hate and anger and is the nucleus of cancel culture,” she added, “but I believe it can also be a place filled with education, conversation, communication and connection.”
“There’s no more room for division if we want to keep seeing progress!
“Knowledge is power! I know I still have so much to learn!”
In offering DaBaby the space to educate himself, Cyrus said she hopes to “encourage love, acceptance and open-mindedness”.
The former Hannah Montana icon capped off her posting by linking to Greater Than Aids, a HIV advocacy group, which she called a “great resource”.

DaBaby has faced intense criticism and heavy consequence after going on a foul rant about gay people and HIV at the Rolling Loud music festival in Miami, Florida, on 25 July.
DaBaby asked fans to shine their mobile phone torches if they “didn’t show up today with HIV/AIDS, any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that will make you die in two to three weeks”.

“Ladies, if your p***y smell like water, put a cellphone light them up,” he added. “Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d**k in the parking lot put your cellphone light up. Keep it real.”
The bombast quickly went viral on social media, prompting a backlash that has seen the musician dropped from top music festivals including Lollapalooza, and slammed by the likes of Elton John and Madonna.
After repeatedly flip-flopping, DaBaby issued an apology where he finally owned up to his actions and thanked those who stepped in to educate him.
“Social media moves so fast that people want to demolish you before you even have the opportunity to grow, educate, and learn from your mistakes,” DaBaby wrote on Instagram.
“As a man who has had to make his own way from very difficult circumstances, having people I know publicly working against me – knowing that what I needed was education on these topics and guidance – has been challenging.”
“I want to apologise to the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made,” he added.
“Again, I apologise for my misinformed comments about HIV/AIDS and I knew education on this is important.”
