Drag Race star Jackie Cox is ‘owning it’ in Days of Our Lives spin-off alongside Lisa Rinna
RuPaul’s Drag Race star Jackie Cox is “owning it” with a guest star role in upcoming series Beyond Salem.
The season 12 queen is reviving her iconic Snatch Game persona as Lisa Rinna to appear in the Days of Our Lives spin-off.
She will star alongside Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ Rinna herself, who plays Billie Reed in the original and spin-off series.
The weeklong special will premiere on 6 September, with episodes dropping daily on streaming service Peacock.
Jackie Cox told Entertainment Weekly: “When my character finally meets Lisa’s iconic Billie Reed, it’s quite the encounter, complete with lots of soap opera stares, which Lisa and I had too much fun doing!
“It was my first time on a soap opera set, and Lisa was so welcoming and definitely helped me find my light. She kept saying ‘the good light is over here, honey,’ and amen for that!”.
She says that the network reached out about bringing her into the Days of Our Lives family following her celebrity impersonation on Drag Race.
Jackie received high praise for her performance which saw her reference some hilarious Lisa Rinna moments from “don’t you talk about my husband” to flogging her duster cardigans.
Jackie goes on to say that Lisa told the cast about that wine glass moment in Amsterdam during an episode of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
She says it was “wild to hear” about the iconic moment in Housewives history from “her firsthand perspective.”
“A year ago I was just fangirl, but now I’m lucky enough to call her a colleague, so, yes, stranger things have happened,” she adds.
The plot for the limited series reads: “Over a long weekend, John & Marlena travel to Zurich, Ben & Ciara honeymoon in New Orleans, Chad visits some familiar faces in Phoenix and Abe, Paulina, Lani and Eli vacation in Miami.
“All find themselves embroiled in a mystery involving stolen jewels which, in the wrong hands, could cause dire consequences for Salem. It’s a race against time for ISA agent Billie Reed as she crosses the globe in search of this Alamainian treasure.”
