Lil Nas X teases unrecorded Lady Gaga duet that never made it onto Montero
Lil Nas X revealed to fans he had some big collaborations in mind for Montero, and had hoped to get Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj on the album.
The Grammy-winning artist took to Twitter on Tuesday (21 September) to dish out some juicy details about his album in a revealing Q&A session.
When a fan asked if Nas would ever collaborate with Lady Gaga, he revealed that he wanted to duet with her on his album, but he never finished the song he wanted to send to her.

Another fan asked Nas which song he sent to Minaj for her to feature on, and it turned out it was none other than his hit “Industry Baby”. So the world could have had a chart-topping Nas song potentially with both Jack Harlowe, who is currently featured on the track, and Minaj.

During a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, the “Old Town Road” rapper also confirmed that he reached out to Nicki Minaj to see if she was interested in doing a feature on his album. He said he sadly received “no reply from Nicki”.
It’s unsurprising that Lil Nas X wanted to collaborate with the “Super Bass” rapper given that he’s a paid-up member of the Barbz.
In 2020, he confirmed rumours that he once ran a secret Nicki Minaj fan account. He said he’d been afraid to come out as a Barb earlier, because he didn’t want people to “know I was gay”.
When fans reassured him that listening to certain artists doesn’t correlate to a person’s sexual orientation, Lil Nas X dropped his stan bomb.
“It don’t,” Nas said, “But people will assume if you had an entire fan page dedicated to Nicki you are gay.”
He also referenced his Nicki Minaj stanning in his emotional video for “Sun Goes Down”. The gorgeous video shows Lil Nas X visiting his teenage self, who was struggling with his identity, working at Taco Bell and being a huge Minaj fan.
