Years and Years’ new video is a spectacularly queer slice of kink that reunites the It’s a Sin cast
Years & Years’ Olly Alexander has unveiled a music video for his new single “Crave” and it’s an otherworldly celebration of all things queer that was definitely worth the wait.
Plus, as a bonus, it also features a surprise It’s a Sin cast reunion, making it even more of a gift for the LGBT+ community.
Alexander confirmed the release date for his third album, Night Call, on social media on the 28 September. The forthcoming project will be the first album since Years & Years became a solo project for the talented singer and actor earlier this year.
But not one to keep his fans waiting, Alexander unveiled “Crave” later that day, a pounding pop track about love, sex and all things spicy.
In the steamy, unapologetically queer video, fans get an eyeful of Alexander decked head-to-toe in blue body paint and wearing a wreath of leaves around his head. The trancelike beat blends fantastically into the dreamy background as feathered fantastical beasts with pointy ears try to seduce the singer.
Things get decidedly more steamy as the video progresses as Alexander encounters a leather-clad individual who chains him up and whips him as he sings, “The only thing I crave is the pain from you”.
After the video dropped, Olly Alexander took to Twitter to thank Munroe Bergdorf, Omari Douglas, Nathaniel Curtis and David Carlyle for appearing in “Crave” as his “forest friends”.
He added the music video was like a “mini It’s a Sin reunion”.
Douglas, who played Roscoe Babatunde on the trailblazing series, called upon his Twitter following to send their support to Alexander, aka “our favourite mermaid”.
He added that he appeared as the “evil witch” in the music video who tempts Alexander with a juicy bit of fruit, and Douglas was apparently “frickin delighted” about the role.

Just watched the ‘Crave’ music on Youtube. Love it and it’s dark, gothic, sexy and Avatar-esque theme

According to Vulture, Alexander described the song and video as a “playful way of inhabiting the deranged sexual energy I’ve always wanted” – which is 100 per cent accurate, honestly.
Years & Years new album Night Call is set to debut on 7 January 2022.
