Demi Lovato is equally as masculine as they are feminine: ‘I identify as both a woman and a man’
Demi Lovato has opened up more about their gender identity saying they are āequally masculine and feminineā.
The āSorry Not Sorryā sat down for a candid interview with Todayās Hoda Kotb about their identity and experiences since they decided to come out as non-binary earlier this year. They said they felt like they have been āliving my life as loudly as possible without a care in the worldā.
“The way that I explain being non-binary to people, or gender non-conforming, is for me personally ā I can’t speak to everyone in their experience ā when I came to the realisation that I am equally as masculine as I am feminine,ā Lovato said.
They continued: āMy masculine and feminine energy are equal, so much so that I may be wearing a dress and heels right now, but I donāt identify as just a woman, or just a man, I identify as both.ā
Lovato added that they still āhave a lot of graceā when it comes to correcting people about their pronouns, joking they āstill mess up sometimesā as well.
āI still mess up sometimes and say āOh, I canāt wait to be an aunt one dayā, and Iām like, āWait, what word do I use?ā,ā they said. āI think for that one weāre going to use āaunkleā.ā

Demi Lovato went on to speak more about their plans for the future and whether or not becoming a parent is in the cards. They admitted that they arenāt quite sold on the idea, but theyāre willing to see what happen.
āI used to really want that, and then, as Iām approaching my 30s without children, itās pretty nice,ā Lovato told Kotb. āI have maternal instincts, I love my animals and I used to really think that one day I would love to be a parent.
They added: āIām going to go with the flow, and if life presents itself with a child in the future, then it does, and weāll take it. Weāll see what happens.ā
The āDancing With the Devilā singer added that they are pretty happy with their life right now and experience āmoments of happiness and moments of bliss and joy that are so fulfillingā.
