OG Wonder Woman Lynda Carter stumbled across ‘Fat Bear Week’ and had the mix-up of the century
Lynda Carter proved why she is truly the Wonder Woman of our hearts after admitting she thought Fat Bear Week was a body positive LGBT+ event.
Carter – who played Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman, in the original 1970s TV show – shared on Twitter that she had recently discovered Fat Bear Week, an annual celebration of the massive land mammals.
But, she admitted, she got the wrong end of the stick.
“I kept hearing about Fat Bear Week and thought it was a celebration of body positivity within a gay subculture,” Carter wrote. “It turns out it is about actual bears! Either way, I am here for it.”

Fat Bear Week 2021, which closes on Tuesday (5 October), is held to choose the fattest and most ready-for-hibernation bear in the Katmai National Park and Preserve in Alaska, CNN reported.
People can vote for the most hibernation-prepared brown bear among a selection of chunky participants.
The mix-up thrilled fans who commended Carter for her knowledge of gay subcultures and passionate bear allyship.

Lynda Carter responded to fans’ awe that she knows “how to speak gay”, explaining that it’s a “required language when you’re training to be Wonder Woman”.
She added that no one should be surprised that she knows about “gay bears”.
“Listen, they don’t make you Grand Marshal of multiple Pride parades for nothing’,” Carter wrote.

A little research uncovers that Fat Bears Week is honestly amazing.
Adult entries for this year include Chunk, an “adult male with narrowly-set eyes, a prominent brow ridge and a distinctive scar across his muzzle”.
Like your bears on the dom side? Well, there’s Bear 747 who is apparently the “river’s most dominant male bear”. He was last year’s Fat Bear Week winner, coming in an estimated 1,400 pounds (636kg, 100 stone) in September 2020.
He also apparently loves “fishing in the jacuzzi or near the pool” so he’s a bear of many tastes.
There’s also Grazer who is the “most defensive mother bear at Brooks River” and often “preemptively confronts and attacks much larger bears” to protect her babies. She also is a “skilled angler” and has “conspicuously large blond ears”.
Fat Bear Week runs from 29 September until 5 October, which is Fat Bear Tuesday.
