National Album Day is celebrating women in music with releases from Kylie Minogue, Mariah Carey and more
This year’s National Album Day is “a celebration of women in music”, and we love to see it.
The fourth National Album Day takes place on 16 October, and it will see the release of limited edition versions of classic albums by iconic women.
This includes Kylie Minogue, Mariah Carey, Stevie Nicks, Amy Winehouse, Solange, Donna Summer and Joan Jett, to name a few.
There’s 40 titles being revisited and revamped for National Album Day, with some vinyl having sold-out already due to demand.
Kylie – who is also an ambassador for the event – is re-releasing her iconic album Fever on silver disc vinyl, but fans have snapped it up from her official website, Amazon and HMV.
Other albums that are proving popular, and close to selling out, include Mariah Carey’s Emotions on pink vinyl, Dido’s No Angel on silver vinyl and Weyes Blood’s Titanic Rising on yellow vinyl.
There’s still a chance to get your hands on the majority of titles online and in-store, including HMV and Rough Trade, who have dedicated pages to National Album Day.

National Album Day say they are “revisiting iconic and influential albums by women artists, from the earliest pioneers to present-day legends”.
They add that the celebration will point “towards exciting new and future talent”, saying “the 2021 event will also highlight the integral role women play within the wider music community, not only as recording artists, but as songwriters, producers, and cultural influencers.”
We also can’t talk about a National Album Day that’s celebrating women in music without talking about the return of Adele.
The singer released her much-anticipated comeback single “Easy On Me” this week, which is lifted from her fourth studio album, 30.
In perfect time for National Album Day, fans can now pre-order the record on vinyl, CD and download from Amazon, HMV and Rough Trade or Walmart in the US, who have an exclusive vinyl with a limited edition print inside.
